2nd Meeting of the Working Group on Industrial Policy (WGIP)

Brussels, 23 November 2016 - The South East European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (SEECEL) attended the 2nd Meeting of the Working Group on Industrial Policy (WGIP), organised and hosted by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) in Brussels.

WGIP has been established under the auspices of the South East Europe Investment Committee (SEEIC), and tasked with implementation of the SEE 2020 Flagship on Competitiveness in the industrial policy dimension area. The aim was to officially establish the WGIP and then to continue in a direction of developing the region’s economic corridors and industrial policy development instruments.

After introductory remarks made by the representatives of RCC and European Commission, the program continued with Tours de Tables among participants regarding various subjects: how to strengthen leadership in Digital Technologies and in Digital Industrial Platforms across value chains in all sectors of the economy, presentation of the current standing of the region in industrial policy reforms and expectations in the forthcoming period.

The last session offered a detailed discussion on regional economic corridors, namely in the area of supporting priority sectors of SEE 2020 and the participants selected the third sector of priority to be addressed by the industrial policy reforms in future implementation of the SEE 2020 Strategy.
