Brown Forum 2015

Osijek, 14 – 15 April 2015 - The South East European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (SEECEL) participated in panel discussions during the fifth Brown Forum, organized in Osijek by the US Embassy in the Republic of Croatia with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia as a partner institution and sponsor of the event.
 
This year's conference, titled "Brown Forum 2015: Fostering the Information Communication Technology Ecosystem" brought together decision makers from Europe and the United States and encouraged them to think strategically about how to grow the potential of the ICT sectors in their countries, including the policies needed to make that vision a reality.
 
The conference began with welcome remarks given by President of Croatian Employers' Association Gordana Deranja, President of Croatian Chamber of Economy Luka Burilović, Executive Director at American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia Andrea Doko Jelušić, U.S. Ambassador to Croatia Kenneth Merten, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts of Croatia Gordan Maras, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Croatia Ivan Vrdoljak and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Vesna Pusić, which were followed by a keynote address by Eveline Buchatskiy from Techstars Boston.
 
Four panel discussion took place one the second day covering the following themes: how business and academia can partner to better prepare students for employment in the ICT sector; how to commercialize ideas developed by university and other research and development institutions; how startups can attract financing; what local governments can and should do to support the growth of the ICT sector.
 
Maja Ljubić, Assistant Director at SEECEL participated in the panel discussion titled "Educating ICT Leaders Today for Tomorrow" but was also there as a speaker to present SEECEL´s model of operations.
