Danube Strategy meeting in Split

As an action defined within the Danube Strategy Action Plan, SEECEL was invited to participate at the 3rd meeting of the Steering Group of Priority Area 8 of the Danube Strategy (Competitiveness of enterprises including cluster development) in Split on the 23rd and 24th of April 2012.

The purpose of the meeting was to promote the competitiveness of enterprises including cluster development within the framework of the action plan of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. Priority area 8 is coordinated by Croatia and the German region of Baden-Wurttemberg. Ms Maja Ljubic, SEECEL assistant director and senior education expert, presented SEECEL activities which seek to increase the competitiveness of enterprises. In particular she focused on the significant contribution that human capital makes to the competitiveness of enterprises and further explained the importance of entrepreneurship as a key competence in all levels of society – resulting in entrepreneurial literacy.

One of the important conclusions of the meeting was that there was a clear need to cover the entrepreneuerial competence dimension of competitiveness - which consequently necessitates the development of a specific sub-group dedicated to entrepreneurial learning. The suggestion from the meeting was that the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia should coordinate this sub-group with support from SEECEL in form of expertise.
