Developing an Entrepreneurial Society: Turkey

SEECEL pilot institution Istanbul Commerce University in cooperation with KOSGEB organized Applied Entrepreneurship Training at the Uskudar and Kucukyali campuses in May 2012.

Mr Ibrahim Bukel, SEECEL steering committee member, gave speeches which higlighted the importance of entrepreneurship as a key competence and consequently the planned Applied Entrepreneurship Training. Training took place in classrooms at a theoretical level and in practice at the Istanbul Commerce University, all of which was made possible by strong cooperation between the university and local entrepreneurs.

Sixty Entrepreneurship Projects were prepared and presented by the students of the Engineering and Design Faculty, covering a variety of topics and areas:  system analysis and design, system engineering and innovation. It is anticipated that students who developed these project will apply to KOSGEB for financial support in order to start their own business and continue with the development of their ideas.

Fifty certificates were issued to participants of this training on 25 May 2012 at the Eminonu campus.
