ET 2020 Working Group on Transversal Skills

Brussels, 29-30 January 2014 - The European Commission, under the Strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training held the first meeting of the ET 2020 Working Group on Transversal Skills.

What are transversal skills? They are skills such as the ability to think critically, take initiative, problem solving and work collaboratively, skills which are relevant for individuals as citizens and in employment in today’s varied and unpredictable career paths.

It is hoped that the WG will benefit the Member States through mutual learning and the identification of good practices in developing actions to address the recommendations within Rethinking Education and support the strategic aims of both ET2020 and Europe 2020.

The Rethinking Education Communication supports efforts to modernise education and training systems, to deliver the right skills needed by the labour market, to address the question of partnerships and funding and contribute to the drive for growth and jobs.

This ET2020 Working Group on Transversal Skills was attended by SEECEL’s, Director, Ms Efka Heder and Ms Maja Ljubić, Assistant Director.
