European Business Forum 2014 on Vocational Training

Brussels, 23 - 24 September 2014 – The European Commission, Directorate-General for Education and Culture, hosted the European Business Forum on Vocational Education and Training (VET) 2014: “Business and VET – Partners for Growth and Competitiveness”.

The question of why should and how can companies and schools work closer together in order to meet the needs in key sectors was one of the themes discussed at  the roundtable forum.

While the young people are struggling to find jobs, companies report that they have difficulty finding people with the right skills. The forum brought together approximately 350 stakeholders in order to develop and build a better understanding between education and training providers and business so that young people can be better prepared with the skills needed by employers.

In addition to the organizers, speakers from DG Enterprise and Industries; DG Employment and Social Affairs and Inclusion; Directors from various centres for the development of vocational training and adult learning; Professors and Directors of companies shared their thoughts on how to work together, invest in and support the Vocational Education and Training.

Entrepreneurial Expert, Ms Željka Mrkša, represented SEECEL at this forum.
