Growing Together - Young Entrepreneurs Workshop

Zagreb, Croatia - Young Entrepreneurs Workshop was held in period from 25 -26 April 2013 in Zagreb. The workshop gathered 30 young entrepreneurs from the SEE countries and neighbouring EU Member states to discuss regional cooperation, entrepreneurship, trade and business opportunities.

The goal was to help young entrepreneurs understand the changes that will arise from Croatia's accession to the European Union and building a new regional network of young entrepreneurs. The participants of the workshop will take the role of ambassadors of youth entrepreneurship in their countries, with the task of expanding the network and further dissemination of knowledge and information obtained during the workshop.

The Young Entrepreneurs Workshop has been addressed through video message by Mr Stefan Füle, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy. Mr Füle has emphasised the following: “After the accession, a new opportunities will be opened for you. That is what we have learned from experiences of countries which entered the European Union before Croatia. Allow me just to mention participation in the internal market of the European Union - in Croatia is that sometimes seen as a threat. In fact it is a huge opportunity, young and innovative companies will benefit most from it."

The workshop was addressed by Mr Richard Masa, Head of Section II of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia and Mr Hrvoje Marušić, Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. SEECEL was represented by Ms Efka Heder, SEECEL Director and Ms Maja Ljubić, Ms Sandra Rončević and Ms Sonja Šegvić.

Growing Together - Young Entrepreneurs is a project organised by the European Commission's Directorate General for Enlargement. The project's main objective is to inform young entrepreneurs, stakeholders, media and the general public about advantages and opportunities Croatia’s accession to the EU can bring. It emphasizes the considerable importance of regional and cross-border cooperation, as well as innovation and creativity in business.

SEECEL is supporting young entrepreneurs since its founding in 2009 through variety of activities in the field of entrepreneurial learning.
