High-level Conference on the implementation of the European Charter for Small Enterprises in the Western Balkans, 17 - 18 June 2009, Brussels

Aimed primarily at national public authorities, entrepreneurs / their business organisations and those interested in the development of the region, the conference will give the opportunity to learn more about both the developments in the business environment in the Western Balkans region as well as about the new policy developments in the SME policy at the EU level.

The European Commission, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the European Training Fundation and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development prepared the 2009 Report on Progress in the Implementation of the European Charter for Small Enterprises in the Western Balkans (the Charter) . The 2009 Report signals the completion of a process started in 2003 with the adoption of the Charter by the Western Balkans and marked by the decision taken in 2006 by the European Commission, the OECD and the Western Balkan governments, to launch a regional comparative monitoring process.

During the conference’s session "Promote the upgrading of skills in SMEs and all form of innovation" (18 June 2009), Ms Efka Heder, the SEECEL Director, will officially present the strategic goals of SEECEL for the period 2009-2011 and envisaged activities of the institution in the context of the Charter.
