Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts at Danube Strategy presentation in EU Parliament

The Croatian Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Mr Gordan Maras, held a speech in the EU Parliament in Strassbourg on 21 May 2012 under the umbrella of the presentation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR). Croatia, together with the German region of Baden-Wurrtemberg, coordinates Priority Area 8 - Strengthening the competitiveness of enterprises.

In his speech, Minister Maras particularly focused on the importance of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship for strengthening the prosperity of the Danube region. Minister Maras highlighted that the Danube strategy is key for strengthening transnational cooperation, promoting the cooperation at SME level and providing a good opportunity to promote the education and training of entrepreneurs. EUSDR also provides a platform for the pre-accession region to cooperate with EU member states on the development of their economic cooperation and strengthening competitiveness in the SME sector.

The Minister also touched on the importance of entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurship as a key competence as crucial factor of sustainable growth. During this elaboration, he presented SEECEL and its activities, underlining that SEECEL has taken on the long-term role of introducing entrepreneurship as a key competence in the region in all levels of formal, non-formal and informal learning. He concluded the presentation on SEECEL by informing the members of the European Parliament that SEECEL has been awarded the Knowledge Economy Network Best Practice Award.
