Improving business statistics and SME policy monitoring

A TAIEX Multi-Country workshop on Improving business statistics and SME policy monitoring in the Eastern Partner and EU pre-accession countries was held on 31 March and 1 April 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.

With support of the TAIEX instrument and in cooperation with DG GROWTH, EUROSTAT and the OECD, the European Commission hosted a group of experts in the field of SME policies and statistics.

Mr Schumann-Hitzler from the European Commission highlighted the need for reliable data in the process of evidence based policy making.

OECD shared experiences on the data collection process as part of the Small Business Act for Europe Assessment 2015 and the SEE 2020 monitoring. Finally, colleagues from EU Member States shared their respective experiences in regards to the monitoring and evaluation of SME policies.

As the fifth key partner in the SBA 2015 Assessment Process of the Western Balkans and Turkey, SEECEL was represented by Mr Stjepan Srhoj, Programme Officer and Liaison.
