South East Europe 2020 Strategy – Inclusive Growth Conference

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina - on 24 November 2011, Ministers of SEE economies adopted the SEE 2020 Vision and tasked the South East Europe Investment Committee with developing the SEE 2020 Strategy based on the five pillars of integrated, smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth under an overall good governance framework. After the adoption of 11 targets for regional economic growth to be reached by 2020, the SEE 2020 strategy and action plan will be prepared and adopted at the next ministerial meeting at the end of 2013.

On 30th January 2013 the Regional Cooperation Council hosted a working group meeting on the inclusive growth component of the South East Europe 2020 Strategy, with the main focus on employment. SEECEL was represented by Ms Efka Heder, SEECEL Director which actively participated and contributed to the work of expert group on inclusive growth pillar of the SEE 2020 strategy.

The objectives of the expert work group initial meeting were social development framework that sets out strategic objectives and headline targets for social development until 2020, priorities at the policy and initiative level, key performance indicators and expected results, implementation plan, budget framework, international support strategy that incorporates the roles and responsibilities of partners and organizational and institutional arrangements.

The conference set up a corner stone for Social Agenda 2020, which corresponds to the inclusive growth pillar of the SEE 2020 strategy, to become the main regional platform for social development in South East Europe.
