SEECEL at national OBRAD conference on education and work in Croatia

Zagreb, 2-3 June 2016 - SEECEL actively participated in the 1st ‘Education-Work’ Conference (OBRAD – Obrazovanje i rad) that was held in Zagreb on June 2nd and 3rd 2016. Jointly organised by VERN' University of Applied Sciences, the University of Zagreb and the Croatian Employers' Association, the OBRAD conference intends to be a bi-annual platform to discuss education-economy-social development linkages among policy-makers and stakeholders in Croatia.

As part of the conference, SEECEL co-led a workshop on entrepreneurial higher education institutions, in partnership with the European Commission and the consulting company HR Pro. The workshop focused on the new HEInnovate self-assessment tool for entrepreneurial universities (, developed by the European Commission. After a presentation of the tool by Mr Luka Juroš (European Commission) and an introduction on participatory leadership by Ms Jasmina Lukačević (HR PRO), Thomas Farnell (Entrepreneurial Learning Expert at SEECEL) presented the results of SEECEL’s work in fostering entrepreneurial higher education institutions in South East Europe and Turkey. The presentation is available here.

The workshop was attended by more than 20 participants, primarily from Croatian higher education institutions, as well as from business support associations and NGOs.

SEECEL also attended the rest of the conference, which featured key note speeches and round tables on promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education, curricular reform and qualifications frameworks.  More information on the conference is available here:
