SEECEL participated in the launch event of the 2011-2012 Small Business Act (SBA) assessment entitled “18th Meeting of the National SBA Co-ordinators” for Western Balkan countries, in Istanbul on the 17th and 18th May 2011.
The meeting was organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Investment Compact for South East Europe and hosted by KOSGEB (small and medium sized industry development organisation of Turkey) with the support of the European Commission (EC).
The participants were National SBA Coordinators and representatives of National Ministries, partner organisations (EC, European Training Foundation (ETF), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the OECD Trento Centre for Local Development), responsible persons of the selected priorities in each country and experts.
The objective of the meeting was to launch the new SBA assessment process and methodology. In addition, the main focus of the meeting was the presentation of steps for monitoring the implementation and evaluating the SME support measures through SBA.
Ms Efka Heder, SEECEL Director, said that "the SBA process is a key component of increasing competitiveness of our SMEs, and as such, this meeting is crucial to provide new insights and recommendations for continuing implementation of the SBA."
