SEECEL at the first OECD Regional Competitiveness Initiative Steering Committee meeting

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) hosted its first steering committee meeting for the Regional Competitiveness Initiative (RCI) project in Paris on the 22nd of November 2010. The project, funded through the EU IPA multi beneficiary package will run from 2010 to 2013 and will focus on human capital development in South East Europe (SEE).

The steering committee is composed of high level representatives of SEE countries, European Commission, European Training Foundation, Regional Cooperation Council and SEECEL. The focus of the meeting was development of coordination between RCI and existing projects and capacities in the region. In particular, SEECEL and OECD agreed on development of a network of national experts and inclusion of most representative national business associations.

Ms. Efka Heder, SEECEL director, commented that “entrepreneurial learning is a key component of competitiveness and SEECEL is very pleased to be a part of this project.”

The follow up event to the RCI meeting was the SEE Investment Committee meeting titled "Boosting Innovation and Skills in South East Europe", on November 23rd, 2010 in Paris. As a part of discussion on preparation for regional ministerial-level meeting, Ms. Sandra Rončević, SEECEL project manager, highlighted that "the SEECEL group of national experts is a great asset to facilitate high level discussion with regional expertise."
