SME Assembly ''Encouraging a Europe of Enterprise''

Vilnius, Lithuania – the SME Assembly conference was held from 25 - 26 November 2013. The focus of conference was directed to European Initiatives to foster much needed economic growth.

The informative and interactive programme included an audit of progress achieved to date by the EU and the Member States in promoting enterprise and debate about effectiveness of teaching the entrepreneurship.

Lithuanian Minister of Economy Mr Evaldas Gustas in his welcome address to the SME Assembly said that achieving at least a small improvement of competitiveness among SMEs is likely to have impact on the whole society. He emphasised a needed support to potential founders and owners of enterprises in development of their business in the EU.

The presentation of the Report on the implementation of the Small Business Act (SBA) was among the most important aspects of the Assembly.

The President of the European Commission Mr Jose Manuel Barroso in his video message pointed out the principle Think Small and Aim High motto for the SME policies.

The conference was attended by representatives of companies, business organisations, European, national and regional authorities, academic community and among them the SEECEL headed by the Director Ms Efka Heder.
