Thematic University Business Forum - „Breaking boundaries for future careers“

Helsinki, 2 – 3 June, 2016 – The South East European centre for entrepreneurial learning (SEECEL) attended Thematic University Business Forum - „Breaking boundaries for future careers“, organised by Haaga-Helia University of Applied  Sciences, with  the  support  of  the  European  Commission Directorate  General  for  Education and Culture, Enterprise Europe Network, Universities Finland, and the City of Helsinki.

The focus of the Forum was ‘breaking boundaries for future careers’. It examined two major enablers that equipped future learners to effectively identify and secure career opportunities: innovation ecosystem is crucial because the government seeks to build a strong and resilient ‘infrastructure’ and link key national stakeholders through a common vision; make learning ever more flexible and relevant to prepare learners for the future jobs and influences the development of innovative and entrepreneurial learners.

The Forum gathered around 200 distinguished participants, including members of Finnish government, stakeholders, entrepreneurs and representatives of academic community to have panel discussions regarding various themes, but all with a mutual goal: to connect educational system with labour market and how to create value through entrepreneurship education. One of the themes was social entrepreneurship and how to build societal start-up.

SEECEL strongly supports entrepreneurial learning and whole concept to „think to act entrepreneurially“ because learning is a mutual journey, an exploration that may have a goal but no fixed pathway to achieving it. Entrepreneurial learning therefore expects mistakes, failures and above all - learning lessons by exposure and experience. It all about taking initiatives, entrepreneurial behaviour and possibly becoming entrepreneurial in thinking and actions.

SEECEL's representatives were Ms Efka Heder, Director; Ms Maja Ljubić, Assistant Director and Ms Sonja Šegvić, Office and Event Manager.
