Women Entrepreneurship project presentation in Turkey

Ankara, Turkey - In accordance with the agreed timeline of the public awareness campaign, a presentation of the “Women Entrepreneurship - A Job Creation Engine for South East Europe“ project was held in Ankara on 18 April 2013. Along with the Women Entrepreneurship (WE) project presentation a Women Entrepreneurship Indicators workshop was held in Ankara  as well.

Among others, the workshop has gathered representatives of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and SEECEL. Ms Efka Heder, SEECEL Director has presented the Women Entrepreneurship project. The purpose of the project is to promote women's entrepreneurship in South Eastern Europe through joint efforts of public and private sector, present best practices for female entrepreneurship as well as building the capacity of national and regional women's business networks and associations. Ms Sandra Rončević, SEECEL Assistant Director has chaired the meeting.

The workshop activities were focused on discussion about second generation of women entrepreneurship indicators, developed by SEECEL’s WE Indicators work group, with stakeholders including lead women associations, public agencies, academic and other institutions in Turkey.

During the workshop, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Republic of Turkey (KOSGEB) and SEECEL. KOSGEB is an institution responsible for development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) and SEECEL's main partner in Turkey. The agreement was signed by Ms Efka Heder, SEECEL Director and Mr Mustafa Kaplan, Director of KOSGEB.
