Women leadership and entrepreneurship conference and expo

Pristina, Kosovo*, Women Leadership and Entrepreneurship Conference and Expo was held on 7th- 8th September 2013 in the organization of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Kosovo*, hosted by the Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ms Mimoza Kusari Lila and the South East European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (SEECEL) headed by Director Ms Efka Heder.

The conference was opened by the President of Kosovo*, Ms Atifete Jahjaga. In her speech, President Jahjaga stated that she was glad that Kosovo* becomes a hub in the region for the advancement and promotion of gender equality and the country in which numerous examples of ''best practices'' become the example to societies that share similar experiences to those from Kosovo*. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry Ms Mimoza Kusari Lila has emphasised the role of women entrepreneurship for boosting economies in south east Europe.

The welcoming addressing continued on with Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts of Republic of Croatia, Mr Dražen Pros by presenting the example of the transition path that Croatia passed in the last twenty years, that made her to evolve into a modern democratic country and became a full member of the EU. He also put an accent, that the issue of women entrepreneurship is not the subject of gender, but subject of the economic debate. The Republic of Croatia is available to share their experiences in the development of sound policies, capacities and knowledge-based on entrepreneurship with other countries.

At the end of the welcoming addressing, Ms Efka Heder handed to Ms Mimoza Kusari-Lila a special award entitled “SEECEL – WE Champion” in the form of an amphora, symbol of achievements in the field of Women Entrepreneurship as one of Kosovo’s* economic development generator.

The Conference programme continued on with an aim to raise awareness and importance of women entrepreneurship as one of the cornerstones of the development of a modern and competitive society. The conference was attended by a number of institutions such as the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Regional Centre for Gender Equality (GTF), representatives of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), number of senior officials and representatives of non-governmental institutions.
